Folder – The Faroese Postal Service 50 Years
Elegant folder featuring a souvenir mini-sheet and first-day cover, both designed by the renowned Faroese artist Edward Fuglø. The mini-sheet is in Posta’s signature blue, with gold foil adding a luxurious finish.
The mini-sheet shows a collage shaped as the number 50, made up of everyday items used in Posta’s communications over the years – from one of the first stamps in 1976 to the modern Posta app. It also includes the iconic white spirit box from earlier times.
On 1 April 1976, the Faroese postal service was officially taken over from Denmark. Prior to that, the Danish postal service managed mail to and from the Faroe Islands, as well as between villages and islands. The takeover day was celebrated with first-day cancellations, allowing collectors to acquire envelopes postmarked on that historic day (1 April 1976).
